My Blogging Story

My blogging journey began in 2014, and at the age of 15 I wanted to be an influencer (just like Zoella), become internet famous and have a laugh whilst doing it. (Only the last of those came true).

So naturally, I created a YouTube channel and a blog to begin what I thought would be an exciting journey to becoming an influencer. Boy was I wrong. YouTube did not last the test of time. Don’t get me wrong I had a laugh, filming funny videos with friends but everything else was awkward and to this day, highly embarrassing.

You’re probably wondering where this is going. Yes my YouTube and influencer career failed. But, I believe these aspirations as a mere 15 year old planted a seed within me that has led me to where I am today. Blogging always stuck with me, and I continued to dabbled over the years.

I am particularly grateful to my University lecturers who in my first year of University mentioned how great blogging can be as a student and professional. So I gave it another go, every now and then, blogging about whatever was on my mind that week. It wasn’t until this year, my third and final year of University, when I began posting weekly.

We are coming to the end of PR Place’s weekly round-ups of student bloggers, and I have to say how grateful I am to be mentioned each week. I have gained such a passion and a motivation for blogging in the past year. Throughout the past year I have been able to not only grow my own written skills but also kept up to date with PR news/happenings and pushed to work to regular deadlines. This experience has been insightful, intuitive and inspirational!

If you are a PR student reading this and not blogging, I would say go for it! You have no idea how much it could help you both personally and professionally. There are a huge range of benefits to blogging and I am so thankful to myself for taking the step and to my lecturers for gently nudging me in the right direction.

I know for a fact that I will never be the influencer my 15 year old self wanted to be. But, I am in a career path that I love and am writing on a blog that I also love. What could be better?
